Punam is an accomplished Singer, Songwriter, TV & Radio Presenter / Journalist and Voice-Over Artist. She is also a freelance writer for various women's magazines.

When it comes to MUSIC...

She has written over 300 songs and recorded 20 to CD with a number of top UK producers including Simon & Diamond who produced Shania Twain's 2006 album, and George McFarlane who has worked with Gabrielle.

Punam started writing songs at the age of 11 and then went on to composing and singing her own material. Many of her tracks are written within 15mins!

Inspiration comes from a huge background including Jazz, Indian, Latino, Trip-Hop, and R&B etc. However her biggest influence has been Prince after seeing him concert at the NEC at the age of 14.

It was while studying Marketing at Manchester University that she managed to get three of her own tracks recorded to CD. A friend of her’s thought they were so good she entered them into a music competition being held by Birmingham’s biggest radio station; BRMB.

Out of 500 entrees and a first time live performance in front of 2000 people, including record company A&R’s, Punam won the competition and was nominated Best New Artist in the Midlands.

From there, Punam was invited to perform to a crowd of 70,000 at a live New Year's Eve gig in the city, as well as by UB40’s very own recording studios, DEP International where she recorded a new track for air-play on BRMB. She then appeared on a BBC TV music documentary about herself and new up and coming Asian bands. After the show was televised potential managers started showing a lot of interest.

At first she managed herself and got music industry people such as Simon Aldridge (Sony Music), and Ric Blaxill (ex Top of The Pops Producer) to come to Birmingham and watch her perform. She also set up her own meetings with Hugh Goldsmith (Virgin Records), Ian Grenthall (East West), and Simon Bushell at Epic Records.

Eventually she was managed for a while by the same team behind Alisha’s Attic and later by Jools Holland's management team.

After meeting up with many A&R people who didn't seem to have the same vision, she now to Manages herself and releases her own singles via her website.
